 Roger Waters Tour 2012 Dates : The Wall Tour – It was rumored that Roger Waters was interested in taking Pink Floyd’s famed album, “The Wall” to the road for a series of tour dates toward the end of summer. These rumors came to fruition when it was confirmed by Roger Waters recently. The tour dates will travel through 36 different cities in North America, and will start on September 15 in Toronto and will not wrap up until December 13 in Anaheim.
The famed album has only been performed 31 times live, and this tour will effectively double the number of times that the album has been performed. The album was initially performed several times in 1980 and 1981 by Pink Floyd in cities such as Los Angeles, London and Dortmund. Roger Waters previously played the album live in July 1990 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
During 2007 and 2008, Roger Waters played “The Dark Side of The Moon” in front of a live crowd. A similar tour has been confirmed for 2011, which will take Roger Waters throughout Europe as he performs “The Wall” live for crowds.
The show is reportedly going to be spectacular, with a huge 240 foot wide, 35 foot tall wall that is made before and torn down after each tour dates on Roger Waters tour. “The Wall” was released in 1979 to loads of critical acclaim, and is considered by many to be one of the greatest albums ever released. The album focused on a young musician facing a personal crisis, which has been described as Roger Waters state of mind at the time of release. The album stayed atop the Billboard charts for nearly 4 months, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA 23 times. It is one of the best selling albums of all time.

Roger Waters Takes 'The Wall' Back on the Road in 2012
It's been 30 years since Pink Floyd released 'The Wall' and founding member Roger Waters has performed it 31 times since then. He's looking to more than double that number this year as he celebrates the album's big anniversary by launching a massive North American tour, during which he'll perform 'The Wall' in its entirety, backed by a full band and state-of-the-art production that's suitable for, well, Pink Floyd. Tour Dates have been announced for 2012.
"30 Years ago when I wrote 'The Wall' I was a frightened young man," Roger Waters tells Spinner. "Well, not that young -- I was 36 years old. It took me a long time to get over my fears. Anyway, in the intervening years it has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with it's concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, whatever! All these issues and 'isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life."
"This new production of 'The Wall' is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years."
 The album's principal songwriter, Roger Waters first took the rock opera on the road for Pink Floyd's 1980-1981 tour in support of its release. Nearly a decade later, in July of 1990, Roger Waters staged a moving solo performance of 'The Wall,' to celebrate the actual fall of the Berlin Wall. Nearly half a million fans showed up for that one.
The album itself remains one of the Top 5 best selling albums of all time in the U.S. -- discovering it, along with the movie of the same name, has become something of a rite of passage for American teenagers, year after year. That's not going to change ... even after they find out that their parents scored tickets for this but hired the babysitter for the night.
Roger Waters tour will have tour dates, concerts and concert dates across North America, kicking things off in Toronto on Sept. 15. Tickets go on sale May 10. with more dates to follow for late 2011 and 2012.

Three decades after Pink Floyd's epic double-album head trip, The Wall, blew a generation's mind, the band's co-founder Roger Waters will perform the entire rock opera in concert again on an upcoming tour. A slew of tour dates and concerts coming.
 Roger Waters left Pink Floyd in 1984 but has continued to perform his iconic songs as a solo artist for years. The Wall tour will mark the 30th anniversary of the British psychedelic rockers' debut of the now legendary stage show for the ambitious album about isolation and madness.
On the tour, Roger Waters has promised to perform an updated version of the original stage show, which included the construction of a massive white brick wall between the audience and performers during the course of the show. The band performed the album in its entirety on its 1980-1981 tour, and Roger Waters revived it for a star-studded event in 1990 that was filmed in front of a massive 500,000-person audience to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany.
Roger Waters 35-date solo tour dates will kick off dates on September 15 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto and is slated to wrap up dates on December 13 in Anaheim, California. More tour dates are expected to be announced.

Bassist Roger Waters left Pink Floyd in 1983, taking his concepts and lead vocals along with him. Assembling a weighty studio crew for his debut solo venture, Roger Waters ponders The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Eric Clapton drips rivulets of blues guitar in between the floating story segments, somewhat incongruously, but Roger Waters wandering tale doesn't amount to much without a tune or three to hang it on. And even the full-blown chorus on the climactic title track can't quite pull that out of thin air. Radio KAOS is a more successful attempt at  constructing an art-rock-enhanced narrative. Resolutely unswinging rhythms and mellow voiceovers from archetypal FM DJ Jim Ladd enhance Roger Waters depiction of a wheelchair-bound computer genius: a saintly hacker and phone freak who zaps the nuclear "Powers That Be." Despite the stiffened beat and occasional horn lines, Radio KAOS sounds exactly like a transmission from another time. That's a large part of its appeal, too.
Roger Waters commemorated the fall of communism by re-creating Pink Floyd's 1979 concept rock opus at the Berlins Wall with an all-star cast: Bryan Adams, Joni Mitchell, Cyndi Lauper, Sinéad O'Connor, and the Scorpions all joined in the fun. The souvenir live album's more a pleasant reminder of an exciting moment in history than a statement of lasting artistic worth. Roger Waters most piercing indictment of modern society to date, Amused to Death reaches a positively corrosive level of irony on "What God Wants" and "Perfect Sense." The choice of Jeff Beck as stunt guitarist is inspired, but the melody quotient remains low, and Roger Waters voice sounds ravaged. Roger Waters concerts are amazing.
More than a decade later, fans are still waiting for Amused to Death's successor. In the Flesh Live documents two late-'90s tours, cogently blending old Floyd and solo material, while the import-only Flickering Flame compiles random album cuts and a few movie soundtrack numbers. Speaking of which, Roger Waters 1970 collaboration with avant-gardiste Ron Geesin, Music from The Body, was originally meant to provide the aural backdrop for a subunderground film. Boasting titles like "More than Seven Dwarfs in Penis-Land," this collection of bizarre sound effects and jaunty acoustic ditties is little more than an amusing footnote to Roger Waters discography.
